Team News: Richmond Women vs Saracens Women
Alex Austerberry has made two changes to his side for the trip to Richmond in the Tyrrells Premier 15s this weekend.
Bryony Cleall starts at loosehead prop and Cara Wardle comes in at outside centre.
Saracens Women’s only other alterations from the 61-0 win over DMP Sharks last time out are amongst the replacements with Vicky Fleetwood selected in a matchday squad for the first time since returning to the club.
Sarah Bebbington, Hannah Casey and Jude Stephenson also make the bench.
“There is a rich history and great rivalry with Richmond and we are very much looking forward to locking horns again,” head coach Austerberry said.
“We are coming off the back of a much-improved performance but we know that we will have to build on those benchmarks we set last week. Richmond will pose some very different challenges and we will have to ensure that we execute our game plan and our core skills clinically to put in a performance that we demand of ourselves and one that will look after the result.
“The matchday squad again sees some new additions with players continuing to impress in training and new combinations and positional changes being explored. Vicky Fleetwood comes in to the squad for the first time since re-joining the club and recovering from injury; Jude Stephenson and Sarah Bebbington also have their first involvement this season. Cara Wardle gets a start in midfield alongside Sarah McKenna with Hannah Casey coming back in to the squad.
“We have started well this season, but we know we still have a lot to learn and we know our game will have to continue to develop. The squad as whole is in a good place and the competition for places is driving our learning and development. The challenge now is if we can transfer this in to a performance against a side that we know will fight for everything and be very competitive.”
