Team News: Saracens Women Development XV vs Worcester Valkyries Development XV

Saracens Women Development XV will be looking to continue their winning run this weekend as they face Worcester Valkyries Development XV at Mill Hill on Saturday 9th March.

Saracens are coming in off the back of a 44-24 win away to Wasps Ladies and are now top of the table in the Tyrrells Premier 15s Development League.

The home team are unbeaten since November and a win against Worcester would make it nine wins on the bounce.

There are a number of changes to the starting XV from last week’s win against Wasps including the return of England prop Ellena Perry.

Head Coach Alex Austerberry is excited to see his team take learnings from last week into the match against Worcester.

“We go in to the game against Worcester with a lot of confidence and momentum. We are excited to build on the performance of last week.

“Our focus in training has been improving our first up tackles and we are expecting this to translate to a better defensive performance.

“In attack the group felt we did not diagnose and execute against half chances and opportunities so an improvement in our ability to execute more clinically is what we will be striving for.”

And while there have been changes to the team, Austerberry sees it as an opportunity for incoming players to challenge for starting places.

“In terms of personnel, there have been several changes and players have the opportunity to showcase their talents. Competition for places is healthy and the new faces for this week illustrate the depth we have in the squad.

“To have El Perry back on the field after an injury hit season is great and I know El is bursting at the seams to get back playing.

“We look forward to the test of Worcester, a well-coached side with lots of exciting young talent.”
