Team News: Saracens Women v Harlequins Ladies
Poppy Cleall and Marlie Packer return to the Saracens Women squad for the first time since early November for the top-of-the-table clash with Harlequins Ladies on Saturday.
Packer will start at flanker and Cleall is among the replacements after they recovered from injuries picked up on England duty during the autumn internationals.
The four other players who recently received full-time professional contracts with the RFU – Hannah Botterman, Vicky Fleetwood, Zoe Harrison and Sarah McKenna – are also in the starting line-up for the Women in Black, who will be out to avenge the defeat to Quins at the Stoop in October.
That was Sarries’ only loss of the season so far, and they will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Tyrrells Premier 15s table, where they are currently four points clear of their London rivals.
Head coach Alex Austerberry: “It is a great start to 2019 with the challenge of Quins. The squad is extremely excited and eagerly anticipating the encounter against a very good Harlequins side.
“We know their strengths and it will certainly be a physical encounter. We will have to play with a controlled ferocity and ensure we manage the game and the key moments effectively and clinically.
“These games are what the group look forward to and we will have to perform at our best and ensure we execute to our standards and put in a performance that reflects who we are and the side we are capable of being.”
