Team News: Saracens Women vs Wasps Ladies

Hannah Botterman returns to action for Saturday’s clash with Wasps Ladies in the fifth round of Tyrrells Premier 15s fixtures.

The England international has been sidelined with a shoulder injury in recent weeks, but makes the bench for the match at Allianz Park, where the Women in Black will look to maintain their 100 percent record this season.

Flanker Vicky Fleetwood, another England international, makes her first start of the campaign, and head coach Alex Austerberry is delighted to see his side nearing full strength.

“With no game last weekend, it’s given some of the girls a chance to regroup and give themselves a fighting chance of being fit,” he said.

“We had a friendly and four league games on the bounce, so it was a very physical start to the season. But currently we have no real injury concerns which is great, and the squad is almost back to full strength.

“Competition for places is always positive and with players coming back in it will continue to drive standards on and off the field.”

Saracens beat Wasps 30-0 at Allianz Park last season, but the visitors added 11 new players to their squad over the summer and have made a strong start, winning three and losing one of their opening games.

Austerberry said: “Wasps are a very physical side with threats all over the pitch. We’ll need to be at the top of our game to manage this, and as well as managing their threats, we need to play in a manner that maximises the strengths we have in the group.

“They are very well coached with Giselle Mather as their director of rugby, so we know they’ll be a well-drilled side with good core skills. We know we’ll need to push them to create pressure.

“It will be full-blooded London derby and we’re really looking forward to it.”
