The boys will be fired up - Rhodes
Mike Rhodes says Saracens are raring to go as they prepare for two weekends of Heineken Champions Cup action.
The Men in Black travel to Glasgow Warriors on Sunday in the pool stage opener before hosting Lyon six days later.
Mark McCall’s side have a special relationship with the tournament having won it in 2016 and 2017, and Rhodes explains why there’s a buzz about playing in the competition.
“Before I arrived they came close a couple of times then subsequently we won it twice, back-to-back,” he said.
“I think it’s the pinnacle of European rugby, the best teams competing against each other, which just adds an extra height and sense; almost with an international-like and feel to it.
“The boys will be fired up for the next two weeks and we’re looking forward to it.”
Sarries last faced Glasgow in April 2017 on their way to their second European success in a row.
The Guinness Pro 14 outfit sit top of their conference after five wins in six league games and Rhodes expects a difficult encounter.
“They’re obviously a great side who we played the season before last,” he said.
“It’ll be a tough game up there with their home support and all that so we’ll have to give them our full attention.
“It will be tough away fixture for us but hopefully with the right preparation we’ll come away with a good win.”
