The guys stuck at it - Barritt
Brad Barritt says Saracens ‘stuck at their task’ to defeat Leicester Tigers at Allianz Park on Saturday.
The Men in Black went into the break 10-5 down before 28 unanswered points in the second half sealed victory and an all-important bonus point to send Sarries top of the table.
“We knew we were up against a high-quality Leicester team,” he said.
“The scoreline flatters us a little bit towards the end because they were chasing the game but I’m very pleased with how we stuck at our task.
“We knew in the first half we didn’t quite get our rewards. We spoke all week about keep building momentum whether you get the success in that first 10 minutes, that wall is going to break at some point and I’m really pleased with how the guys stuck at it.”
On the young players involved, Barritt added: “It’s fantastic to see the young guys coming out here, getting their chance and thriving. It’s now about taking it into next week and building on this performance.”
Saracens travel to Gloucester on Friday evening in the Gallagher Premiership and Barritt is expecting a vociferous Kingsholm.
“We know it’s a week-in, week-out job and you’re only as good as your last game. We’re going down to Gloucester, a place where the home crowd really get behind them and we’re going to have to up our game.”
