They don’t come very often! - Burger
Scoring tries is pretty rare for Schalk Burger which is why the South African was so pleased to cross on the weekend against Bath.
The veteran flanker, who celebrated his 35th birthday last week, was on the end of a slick backs move and dived over in the corner for Sarries’ fifth try of the afternoon.
At times the Men in Black produced some great rugby on the way to their bonus-point victory which secured a Premiership play-off place and Burger says that was the aim from the off.
“It was lovely to get a little meat pie – they don’t come very often!” he quipped.
“It’s always nice to get a freebie – now I know what Sean Maitland and all these guys feel like! Chris Wyles has made a living out of it.”
Burger continued: “It was a big win. That was what we were aiming for all week; strive to put on a good performance after last week.
“It was never going to be easy as Bath have so many good players but credit to our boys for playing 80 minutes of good footy and getting the right result is a bonus.”
