Tom Griffiths eyes senior team opportunities in vital preseason
A five try performance in the Singha Sevens has Saracens centre Tom Griffiths keen for chances with the senior squad.
In his first action back from an injury that had him side-lined since January, Griffiths’ stand out play led the Men in Black to the plate final, where they lost to the Exeter Chiefs 14-26.
Now training with the senior team, he is looking to carry momentum over into Saracens preseason tour of Bermuda.
Griffiths, 21, said: “To come straight back into it, you just don’t want to stop. You want to keep kicking on.
“I’ve been struggling with injuries for the past few years, so I want to keep out there and get the most out of it, both physically and mentally.”
Griffiths is aiming to use Saracens three preseason fixtures to get back up to full speed and said that once the season starts he wants to play as much as possible.
He said: “Personally, I just want to get confident again, it’s been quite a long lay-off so it would be good to just get out there and get my hands on the ball.”
Sarries open their preseason on 10th August in Bermuda against the USA Islanders. They then return to face Bedford Blues on the 19th August before facing Timisoara Saracens at Allianz Park on the 25th August.
