'We found a way to win' - Burger
Schalk Burger praised opponents Gloucester Rugby’s fine-tuned game plan after the Cherry & Whites ran Saracens close to their first home defeat of the season in the Men in Black’s 24-20 win at Allianz Park on Sunday.
Saracens turned around a half-time deficit to defeat David Humphreys resurgent side and speaking after the game, the experienced Springbok flanker paid tribute to his side’s opponents in typical grace after the game.
"You’re obviously glad when you edge these kinds of games, but we must pay a lot of credit to Gloucester,” said Burger. “They came here with a plan to put us under a lot of pressure in our own half - they are a well-drilled side and they really tested us today.
“We knew it was going to be tough, and there wasn’t much between us at the end. We were trailing 17-15 at the break but we found a way to win which is really encouraging."
He added: “Maybe it was frustrating at times but for us to get another win at Allianz Park, that’s Gold for us!”
