We haven’t peaked – Maitland
Sean Maitland believes Saracens have a lot more to give as they seek a home semi-final.
In their last two outings, the Men in Black have scored 15 tries and accumulated over 100 points, confirming a spot in the top four.
A win on Sunday will confirm a fixture at Allianz Park in the play-offs which Scotland international Maitland feels is important.
“There’s potentially four games left and it’s crazy how fast the season has gone; it’s been a great one so far,” he said.
“As a team we’ve talked about how there is still a lot more of our game to grow.
“We’ve had two big wins in a row, but we know we haven’t peaked and there’s a massive focus on trying to get better every week; the leaders in the team and the coaches are definitely driving that message to all the boys.
“We want to finish on a massive high now we’re in the semis; to get that home semi if we beat London Irish is going to be massive for us.”
Maitland spent the 2015/16 season at Irish before joining Sarries.
The Reading-based outfit look set to finish bottom of the Aviva Premiership but the British and Irish Lion expects a battle.
“Hopefully I’ll get a friendly welcome back!” Maitland joked.
“They’ve got some quality players and they’ve been so competitive this year and most of the games they’ve lost have been by 10 or under.
“Going to the Madejski is going to be tough and we know it’s going to be a difficult task.”
