We're playing some decent stuff - McCall
Mark McCall is happy with the rugby his side are playing going into what he calls the business end of the season.
Saracens scored seven tries to earn a bonus-point win over London Irish and secure an Aviva Premiership home semi-final.
The Men in Black have now scored 22 tries in three games and haven’t conceded a second-half point since their Champions Cup match against Leinster in Dublin.
“It feels good to have secured a home semi-final; it’s a nice thing to look forward to,” McCall said.
“Our aim was to bounce back from the Leinster defeat and get some momentum – so far so good!
“You want to play your best rugby at this point of the season and in the last three weeks we’ve generated a bit of momentum and we’re playing some decent stuff.”
He added: “We didn’t capitalise on some of the possession we had and gave away a couple of soft scores but to come out after half-time with a couple of quick scores was good.
“I’m pleased we didn’t concede in the second half and we’ve done that to a couple of teams recently, so our defence is good.
“There’s a hunger in the group but we realise we’re entitled to nothing and we’re going to have to earn everything we get.”
Another positive was the return of Billy Vunipola who came off the bench at the Madejski Stadium.
The England back rower has been sidelined since January with a broken arm and was introduced to the fray on the hour mark.
McCall said: “It’s always good to have Billy around; he loves rugby and being around the lads.
“He’s spent so much time in the gym being by himself and it’s great he got 20 minutes. He got the ball quite a lot in that 20 minutes and he got the exact workout we wanted.”
