We weren't accurate enough - Wray
Mistakes and ill-discipline contributed to Saracens’ defeat at Sale Sharks according to back rower Jackson Wray.
The Men in Black conceded 14 penalties, four of which were slotted by home fly-half Rob du Preez, and received two yellow cards at the AJ Bell Stadium as they went down 24-18.
A losing bonus point was secured at the death with Nick Tompkins going over, but the damage had been completed prior to Sarries’ second score in a game Wray believes the group will learn from.
“Credit to Sale. It’s a tough place to come and they made it difficult but we’re very disappointed if we’re honest,” he said.
“We were just a bit too inaccurate with what we were doing; we fought hard but we weren’t quite there. We thought at half-time we could turn it around but unfortunately we weren’t accurate enough and didn’t take our chances when we had them.
“It was discipline as well, we got the wrong side of the referee and that combined with our mistakes cost us. It’s something we’ll learn from and we’ll go on to next week.”
