Williams relishing end of season games
Liam Williams is happy with how his first season with Saracens is going.
The Wales international has featured 13 times for the Men in Black in 2017/18, scoring eight tries in all competitions including three in his last three Aviva Premiership outings.
Last time out, Williams started at full-back for the first time in Sarries colours and although it’s a favourable position for the 27-year-old, he’s happy to contribute from anywhere on the pitch.
He told Sarries TV: “The start of the season went really well and then obviously I picked up a bit of an injury and I was out for 11-12 weeks.
“I came back in, had a couple of games in Europe, played in the Six Nations for the last few games and now I’m looking forward to the end of the season.”
He continued: “It’s always nice to play 15, it’s where I like playing. With Alex Goode being there, he’s class so I’m just happy to be on the pitch with the boys.
“We had to pick ourselves up last week and I think we did that by going up to Northampton and sticking 60 points on them. Hopefully we can take that into this week.”
Williams will once again play at 15 this weekend when Bath visit Allianz Park.
A couple of the ex-Scarlets man’s Welsh team-mates will line-up against him on Sunday and he’s looking forward to the challenge.
Williams said: “I played with Priest (Rhys Priestland) for the Scarlets and Toby (Faletau) back home in Wales. They are both class players and they’re going to be huge threats to us on the weekend.
“It isn’t just those two, it’s a team of 15 boys and everyone at the club is extremely excited.
“We’ve got a couple of games left of the season and hopefully we can go on to end up in the top two and have a home semi-final.”
