No comfort for Clermont at Allianz Park
High-flying Clermont Auvergne visit Allianz Park in the opening round of the European Champions Cup on Saturday, but only 33 visiting supporters have bought tickets for the match against Saracens.
The Top 14 leaders, consistently among the strongest clubs in Europe, will bring more people in the official group travelling to London than there will be French supporters sitting in the stands. A Saracens spokesman said:
“Clermont are entitled to receive 20% of tickets in all categories and the lack of response is surprising, especially for those Saracens who recall the blue and yellow invasion of Vicarage Road when we played the same opposition in 2011.
“We are looking forward to a capacity crowd on Saturday, with Allianz Park full of Saracens supporters.”
