Debutant Palamo itching to get started

Thretton Palamo is set to make his Saracens debut in the LV=Cup against Pro 12 leaders the Ospreys on Friday night.

The USA Eagle, who made his international debut for the USA as a 19-year-old at the 2007 World Cup, joined Saracens in the summer, but picked up a foot injury in preseason training that has delayed his return to action.

Speaking before Saracens trip to the Gnoll, Palamo said; “I’m just really excited that I can finally get out there, and hopefully show everyone that I belong here. It’s been three months waiting, I understand that people are anxious to see what I can produce, and so am I"

Palamo, whose father Arona, played for Samoa, spent a season at Biarritz before he returned home to study at the University of Utah. Having led the Utes to the Collegiate Sevens title, he went on to earn a three-year American Football scholarship, but after his release the physical centre joined Saracens on a short-term deal during the summer.

“Since I arrived I’ve been treated unbelievably well, and the physios and strength and conditioning coaches have been amazing," said the centre.

He added; “I’m excited. I need to play and go out there and have fun again, so I can’t wait for Friday night.”
