Returnee Farrell eyeing up final push
Owen Farrell admits he is excited for the rest of Saracens campaign despite the disappointment of the European Champions Cup defeat to Clermont on Saturday.
The fly-half stressed there was no time to dwell on what has been, instead the team must focus on what is to come, starting with another massive clash against Northampton Saints at Stadium MK on Saturday in the Premiership.
“I think we’re OK in that sense,” said Farrell when asked if the defeat in France would affect the side for the remainder of the season. “We’re very excited for what we’ve got coming up in the next few weeks.
“We will learn the lessons of this game and become a better team for it. We have some massive games coming up now and we will try to get a home semi-final and push on in the Aviva Premiership.
“What we’ve got to do now is make sure we reach and play games like this in front of 41,000 people every year. It was a really close match and it could have gone either way. If we can put ourselves in a place like that every week we will be tough to beat.”
Farrell returned to action on Saturday after a spell of 10 weeks on the sidelines through injury. “It went really well,” he added. “It was good to get out on the pitch again and I’m looking forward to kicking on.”
