Sale defeat 'disappointing' - Wyles
Saracens full-back Chris Wyles conceded that his side’s performance in their 14-10 defeat to Sale Sharks was ‘pretty poor’.
The USA international who was a late call-up to the Saracens starting XV after Charlie Hodgson pulled out of the game with a tight hamstring, believes Saracens can find some solace in the way they battled to gain a losing bonus point in a game which he believes the north Londoner’s did not deserve to win.
Speaking after the game, Wyles said: “Considering how poor we were in some parts of the game, it’s pretty pleasing to have come away with a bonus point. Overall we’re all disappointed really and in some facets of the game we were pretty poor.
"I think credit must go to Sale as well. They were pretty physical and they did well to rattle us at our set piece and in the contact area. It just meant we never got on the front foot and we are usually pretty good at doing that to other teams, so hats off to them as they did that to us.”
On his late call-up to the starting team, he added: “It can be difficult at times, but ultimately I have done it on a few occasions before, so it wasn’t an issue for me. The result and the performance were the most disappointing things - it was just one of those days.”
