Saracens 2014 Summer Camps Are Biggest Ever
Saracens Rugby Camps continue to thrive as they bring to a close their busiest Summer to date. Saracens delivered 19 camps over 15 different venues including Allianz Park, RAF Halton, British School Of Brussels and local rugby clubs, and saw over 1,200 children attend.
Saracens camps The camps range from One Day Intensive Skills Clinics to Complete Skills Weeks and are created in conjunction with Saracens 1st team coaches to provide a totally inclusive skills programme. Content is based around the fundamentals of rugby including SAQ, handling, offloading, tackling/tagging, decision making and breakdown management. All sessions are planned and coached by Saracens award winning coaches and are all tailored to the age of the participants conforming to RFU guidelines.
This Summer also saw the return of both our Scrum Half and Kicking Clinics at Allianz Park. The Kicking Clinic gave an opportunity for all those budding Owen Farrells out there to develop all aspects of their kicking game including punting, drop-kicking and goal kicking; whilst the Scrum-Half Clinic concentrated on the core skills of No.9 play including box kicking, passing and defence manipulation and engagement.
We also welcomed to the programme our U9 & U10 Wolfpack Contact Clinics. The camps were designed with the input of Saracens defence coach Paul Gustard and concentrated on the introduction to contact for children going into the U9 age group for this coming season as well as the fundamentals of rucking and scrummaging for those in the U10s. The camp was very wekll received and parents and coaches were invited to stay for the day to pick up any tips they could for creating a safe contact rugby environment for their future stars!
“I just wanted to thank you and all the coaches for such an amazing day today at the contact clinic. The coaches were brilliant and the day was really well organised.” Annie, mother of Harry (aged 9)
“Just wanted to say thank you very much for a great two day camp. My son had a fantastic experience and it helped him out of his comfort zone by attending.” – Tricia, mother of Kian (aged 8)
