Saracens beat Saints - As it happened
It was billed as one of the games of the season. Boy, it didn't disappoint.
A rivalry that has developed into one of English rugby's fiercest had the added spice of a Premiership final spot at stake. Throw in some bitter memories of the Aviva Premiership final last May, and in Saints' case, a defeat in the LV=Cup semi-final earlier this season, then Saturday's game was a tinderbox waiting to go off.
And so it did. In a bruising, brutal and brilliant 80 minutes at Franklin's Gardens Mark McCall's side inspired by Jacques Burger and aided by the fantastic Owen Farrell beat Northampton 29-24 in a Premiership classic.
