Saracens ready for Chiefs showdown - De Jager

Nick De Jager is hoping Saracens can continue to show the togetherness and fight that has served them so well during this season’s LV=Cup campaign.

Saracens face cup holders Exeter Chiefs on Sunday, with the winners of the game securing a home semi-final berth, and the South African loose forward has praised his side’s preparation ahead of Sunday’s LV showdown.

“We’ve been very positive all week,” said De Jager. “The guys have been training unbelievably well, we have really seemed to click this week and the feeling is good going into Sunday. We’ve got some boys back, guys like Maro (Itoje), Hayden Smith and Jackson Wray who are back in the pack, we just can’t wait to get out there.

“We’ve had our backs against the wall during times of this LV=Cup campaign, with numbers down and other things but this group has really stuck together and pushed for each other. We’ve done unbelievably well up to now."

He added: “A lot of times this season a few clubs have come to play us thinking that they can outdo us in the physicality stakes. That just hasn’t been the case so far and we’ll see how we go on Sunday against a very good Chiefs side. We’re going to push as hard as we can to perform.”
