Saracens resolve 'incredible' - Brown
Kelly Brown was at the heart of Saracens' committed 30-23 win against ASM Clermont Auvergne.
The Scotland international wing-forward produced a typically robust and committed display in the back-row, as Saracens held-on to beat the French league leaders in a European classic at Allianz Park.
Speaking after the game, Brown said; “It was a very, very tough game, and we were expecting that. What I thought was really good was the way we bounced back after set-backs, when they scored a penalty or try. I thought that was incredible.
"We had a good plan, but I thought the spirit and the 'team-ship' we had was superb, and that’s what pulled us through. It was a very tense moment in that last scrum. At times we get a bit a grief for going away on these mid-season trips but I think it was times like that is why we do it. We knew that were under a lot of pressure. They were sniffing a penalty or a penalty try and we fronted up, so I’m incredibly proud of the boys."
Saracens were guided around the field by Man of the Match Charlie Hodgson, and Brown was full of praise for the experienced outside half.
“He (Hodgson) was incredible today,” said the Scottish flanker. “We’re lucky here at Saracens, as we have world-class No.9’s and No.10s here, so as forwards, we know that we can just do our job and those guys will guide us around the field. The way that Charlie did that today was magnificent.”
