Saracens team named to face WP
In-form wings Chris Ashton and David Strettle will line up for Saracens on Sunday when they face Currie Cup champions DHL Western Province at Allianz Park in the Sanlam Challenge.
The duo will be looking to continue their fine try scoring form that has seen them cross the line 44 times in the past year and the visit of the South African champions will be a stern test for the Saracens side led by Springbok Alistair Hargreaves.
The Saracens starting XV for the match contains 10 internationals with Kelly Brown, Mouritz Botha, Juan Figallo, Rhys Gill, Charlie Hodgson in the team with Neil de Kock also facing his former club. US Eagle Chris Wyles also returns after facing New Zealand in Chicago last weekend.
The Saracens bench for Sunday’s match also includes new signing Brett Sharman along with Will Fraser and Scotland centre Duncan Taylor.
“We’re really excited by the chance to play against Western Province, and the nucleus of the Stormers team that has historically competed so strongly in the Super XV,” explained Director of Rugby Mark McCall
“They come to us with high confidence after finishing a strong season with some much deserved silverware. We know that we have to be at our very best if we are to overcome a well drilled and in-form team.”
