Saracens vs Worcester Warriors - Match preview

Saracens face Worcester Warriors this Saturday at Allianz park, here Henry Fraser previews Dean Ryan's side.

Worcester Form Guide - won 1, lost 19.

It's been a season to forget so far for Worcester. However a win this weekend could give them huge hope going into the final round of Premiership games. But a loss will seal their fate and resign them to playing Championship rugby next season.

In what has been a tough, long season for Worcester, their big positive and most consistent factor has been Chris Pennell. For most of the season he has been their single biggest threat mostly having to begin everything with a counter attack. His stats put him up there as one of the top performers in the Premiership this season. Sarries must be as rigid as ever in their kick chase so not to give Pennell any opportunity to launch his dangerous counter attack.

The Warriors have made lots of signings over recent months which has meant a lack of continuity and consistency. But over recent games they have found a stronger run of form.

A big win for them away against their relegation rivals, Newcastle, a few rounds ago has meant there is a small chance of staying up.

It seems they favour playing on the hard ground as they are finding it a bit easier to cross the whitewash. But their defence has left a lot to be desired at times. They have conceded the most tries so far this season, conceding a large number straight after halftime.

They have come close in many games this season having achieved seven losing bonus points.

Last time these two teams met Sarries chalked up the four try bonus point within half an hour in a game where the Warriors dominated possession and territory. Worcester will be looking to be a lot tighter and make the most of their chances.

With this being a must win game for Worcester, they will be throwing everything at Sarries.

Players to watch

Josh Drauniniu - The Fijian winger is the Warriors biggest attacking threat. He is only the team’s second highest try scorer but, like most Fijians, he packs a real punch. He struggled early season as the Warriors could not get their wide game going, mainly because of the personnel employed. However with the right players he is able to use all his speed and strength to make an impact on the game.

Andy Symons - Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Symons makes an impact. He has added some stability to the Warriors back line. He is a huge centre standing at 6ft 5in and weighing in at 104kg. His direct running gives a much more secure attacking platform. Symons also has great ball playing abilities and a good wide passing game, as seen against Bath, that can get the players into the game.
