Saracens Women book Cup Final place
Saracens Women capped off a fine weekend for the club by booking their place in Senior Cup Final.
The reigning League Champions faced title rivals Richmond Ladies away from home, and beat the south-west Londoners 14-13 in a tight and tense contest and The Athletic Ground.
Richmond ended the first half on top however the reigning Premiership Champions came out firing after the break. Saracens centre Hannah Casey sliced open the Richmond defence to bust through and score in the 43rd minute.
Former captain, Maggie Alphonsi, making a cameo appearance off the bench, added her name to the scoresheet as she muscled her way through the home side's midfield to dot down under the posts with 10 minutes remaining.
Full back, Zira Handley cooly slotted both conversions to edge the visitors to a narrow 13-14 win to progress into the Cup final on 11th April.
Head Coach, Rob Cain: "It's great to have won a very tight affair against the defending cup champions away from home. The girls managed to turn around a half time deficit and secure the win with two great tries and keep our dream of doing the double alive."
