Saracens Women find a new home at Allianz Park
The Saracens women squad, English champions, has found a new home with the professional club at Allianz Park.
“The women’s club are part of our family,” chairman Nigel Wray said, “and we’re pleased they have accepted our invitation to train and play at Allianz Park. The senior team, the Storm side, the women’s side and the nine clubs in the Saracens global network – these are the twelve Saracens senior teams.”
The Saracens women’s squad will train twice a week and play League and Cup matches at Allianz Park next season.
Wray continued: “Women’s rugby is growing quickly, and we want to be at the forefront of this growth. Maggie Alphonsi may have retired, but there are many fine players following in her footsteps and, as the professional club, we will support the development of the women’s squad in every possible way.”
Laura Eddie, Saracens women club captain, said: "We are delighted the Wolf Pack have welcomed the women's club into their den. Giving the squad the opportunity to use world class facilities will undoubtedly help promote and develop the women's game, inspiring new players and supporters. We are excited to call Allianz Park our new home and look forward to developing closer ties with the extended Saracens family based on our shared core values."
