Self-belief is on the rise - Goode
Alex Goode says Saracens’ self-belief has rocketed after Saturday's win over Munster, as they prepare for a ‘titanic’ clash against ASM Clermont Auvergne on Sunday.
Saracens will face the French league leaders at the Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin on Sunday afternoon, and Goode believes his side can take a huge amount of confidence from Saturday’s performance against Munster that England full-back described as ‘phenomenal’.
“Saturday was great for our self-belief,” said Goode. “We have a lot of belief in this group as it is, but results and performances like Saturday’s proves to us that we are going in the right direction and gives us a lot of confidence. We’re a strong group, who play well and maybe we can prove a few people wrong.
“It will be very tough over there, they don’t lose many at home but it’s a great place to play rugby. I can’t wait to get over there for what should be a titanic battle to see who comes out on top in the Pool."
On Saracens 33-10 win over Munster, Goode added: “I think from minute one it was a phenomenal performance. Everything about the way the lads went about it was impressive. We were intense, physical and every loose ball we were after, every kick chase we put them under pressure and we just swarmed them. They talk about that ‘Munster intensity’ they wanted to bring to the game, but we matched them in every aspect - I think we controlled the game for large parts against a very good side.”
