Spies thanks Saracens
Blue Bulls club captain Pierre Spies thanked Saracens after his side beat the north Londoner's 26-39 in an entertaining ten try contest at Allianz Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Springbok international made his first appearance in over 18 months in the game, and crossed for a try minutes after coming on to the pitch as a second half substitute.
"It was an amazing feeling I must say," said Spies on making his comeback. "I got a try today as well, which was really the cherry on top. It’s been a long 18 months for me so it was great to be back.
“I’m really happy with the result for the team, as we are on the eve of a big Super Rugby season. We’re very thankful to Saracens for today. They have welcomed us so well to London, and have looked after us since we arrived."
He added: "We are very happy with the result, and I’d like to thank the people of London, all the Saracens fans who came to Allianz Park for making it such a special day - we came to achieve what we set out to."
