Garnet Mackinder

Garnet started playing for Exeter Saracens at 15 years old when local coach Dave Turner did some fantastic recruiting for the women's game. From there she went through the ranks to play for England Colleges and England U20s.

In 2010, Garnet took a break from international rugby to concentrate on studies at the University of Birmingham and her further career. She played tag rugby for Great Britain in the 2015 Tag World Cup in Australia.

Garnet was persuaded by current Saracens coach Rob Cain to come to Saracens after seeing her play at a social 7s tournament. After one season in the Premiership for Saracens and a year in the Development 7s squad Garnet made her debut for England 7s in the World Series, Clermont-Ferrand leg.

Now based in Stratford, Garnet works full time for a social charitable enterprise supporting talented athletes. In her spare time she enjoys escaping the city back to the westcountry beaches and tasting the variety of scrumpy ciders! Garnet also enjoys European city breaks and travelling in the little time she has off from the 15s and 7s seasons!
