One of the club’s new signings ahead of the 2017/18 season, Liam Williams is an exciting prospect in a Saracens shirt, with the exciting back-three player currently in the form of his career.

Starting his rugby education at his local club Waunarlwydd RFC, he moved on to playing part-time for Llanelli RFC, whilst also concentrating on completing an industrial apprenticeship that saw him work 12-hour shifts working above the blast furnace in Port Talbot’s Margam Steelworks as an apprentice scaffolder.

However, rugby was soon to become his full-time occupation, as he signed his first professional contract with the Pro 12 outfit Scarlets in 2011. Williams impressed straight away, scoring 40 points in his first 26 outings for the club in his debut season, earning him a nomination for the Anglo-Welsh tournament’s Breakthrough Player award.

Liam made 108 appearances in a Scarlets shirt, with his final contribution being in the Pro 12 final, as Scarlets lifted the title as league champions.

Williams has earned international honours with Wales, and made his senior debut against the Barbarians in Cardiff in June 2012, a year after playing with the U20’s outfit in the Junior World Championship. His ability under the high ball and attacking prowess has seen him win over 40 caps for Wales and become a British and Irish Lion in Summer 2017.
