A gifted lock who has played at the top level of club rugby in his native Ireland, Mark Flanagan established himself as one of the standout performers in the Championship before moving to Saracens for the 2016/17 season.

The cousin of Irish international Devin Toner, Flanagan began his professional rugby career at Leinster, coming through the club’s academy before making 9 senior appearances for the Irish province.

After a spell for French Pro D2 side Stade Montois, the second row moved to Bedford Blues, where he was an integral part of the team that reached the 2015/16 Championship play-off Final. His fine form earned him a move to Saracens to help bolster options in a second row that is bound to be affected by international call-ups.

The 6ft7 lock also represented Ireland at U18, U19 and U20 levels, playing in the 2009/10 U20’s World Championship campaign as well as the 2008/09 U20’s Six Nations.
