Maro Itoje’s rise to the top of the rugby world has been truly meteoric, scooping up many individual accolades whilst making the leap to senior club and international rugby.

Itoje captained his school and junior club side, and made a number of national representations, as well as being part of the Saracens Academy. His full senior debut came in 2013, and since then he captained the club to Anglo-Welsh glory and developed into a first choice forward for Saracens, with his run of excellent form also including winning Premiership titles and Champions Cup titles.

His international record for England makes for as pleasing reading as his impressive club CV. Itoje guided the England U20 side to only their second-ever World Rugby U20’s Championship title, gaining his first senior England cap in the 2016 RBS 6 Nations, where England were crowned Grand Slam champions. He followed this up by starting all three tests of the 2016 Summer Tour of Australia, before featuring in the 2017 Six Nations winning squad and becoming a British and Irish Lion that summer.

Maro, who was crowned European Player of the Year and Land Rover Discovery of the Season in 2016 as well as Man of the Match in that year’s Champions Cup final, is also studying for a degree in politics.
