After arriving from Championship side Jersey, Richard Barrington has managed to develop himself a reputation as a fine scrummager and a dependable prop forward.

In his youth, Barrington was more accustomed to life in the back row, before joining Hartpury College where he was transformed from a blindside flanker to a loosehead. His time with the Gloucestershire club saw him develop his skills in the front row of the scrum as well as playing alongside some notable names such as Dan Norton, Jonny May and Alex Cuthbert. Barrington (or Bazza as he’s affectionately known in the Sarries camp) also gained a qualification in sports coaching at Hartpury.

Since those days of playing in the Jersey v Guernsey Siam Cup, he has risen to the lofty heights of playing in Premiership, European and Anglo-Welsh, winning all three competitions throughout the course of his career with Saracens, as well as reaching over 100 appearances for the club. Richard has also had the chance to represent his country, when he was capped for England Students in 2012.

‘Bazza’ has also become well-known for his enthusiasm in leading the now-famous post-victory celebrations, with cries of ‘reeeeemix’ now becoming part and parcel of the changing room victory videos known across the rugby world.
