A master of the box-kick, Richard Wigglesworth is one of the true stalwarts of the Saracens side, making over 180 appearances for the club from scrum-half.

Born in Blackpool and attending school in Lancashire, Richard was a keen footballer in his youth before eventually deciding to pursue rugby further as a career option. Joining the Sale Sharks Academy in 2001, he graduated to the north-west club’s senior side, playing well over 100 matches before announcing his move to Saracens in the summer of 2010.

Wigglesworth has been pivotal in guiding Saracens to several titles and silverware in his time with the club, including Premiership and Champions Cup titles.

His pin-point accuracy from the boot has proved invaluable to the squad, as has his ability to dictate the tempo of the game, with one of his most memorable performances being his display in the 2016 Champions Cup final, as he showed all of his tactical nous to steer his side to their maiden European Cup in monsoon conditions in Lyon

Richard’s club form has seen him enjoy spells on the international scene for England, earning 27 caps for his country, including two Rugby World Cups in 2011 and 2015. Most recently, Richard was called up to the England squad in May 2017, rewarding his notable consistency in a black and red shirt.
