An exciting prospect in the Saracens squad, Scott Spurling is an exciting young front row player looking to kick on after a disappointing spell on the sidelines through injury.

Born close to Allianz Park in Hendon, North London, Spurling attended school in Hertfordshire and joined Saracens in 2010, his first professional club. His rugby development has been enhanced by the opportunity to play Championship rugby at Bedford Blues and in the Saracens Storm side, as well as learning from experienced teammates Schalk Brits and Jamie George. Spurling has also had the opportunity to make a string of senior appearances, mainly in the Anglo-Welsh tournament.

Spurling announced himself on the big stage during a Help for Heroes Charity match at Twickenham, where the fleet footed hooker raced away for a 60m try rounding former Wallaby back Joe Roff in the process. Immediate comparisons to Sarries hooker Schalk Brits followed after his wonder try, and his style of play is very much akin to the Men in Black’s star Springbok hooker.

Scott was a Junior World Championship winner alongside fellow Sarrie Matt Hankin, featuring for England U20’s in their maiden win in the prestigious tournament.
