Storm secure home A-League semi-final
Saracens Storm booked a home A-League semi-final with a 27-0 victory against London Welsh at Allianz Park on Monday night.
Tries from Nils Mordt, Jared Saunders, Nick Tompkins, Matt Hankin and Catalin Fercu rounded off a fine night’s work for the Storm that sets up a semi-final against Newcastle Falcons A that will take place at Allianz Park on Monday 5th January, 2015.
The win means Saracens complete the Southern Conference of the competition with a 100 per cent record of six wins from six.
Mordt opened the scoring at the end of a frustrating first half for the home side when his show and go took him over the line from close range.
After the break hooker Saunders rounded off a fine flowing move while further scores in the half from Hankin and replacement Tompkins secured the bonus point victory. The dancing feet of Romanian international Fercu saw him complete the scoring with the clock on zero, leaving just the conversion that was taken by Mouritz Botha.
In his final action for the club at Allianz Park, the second row lined up the extra two points but his effort was just a fraction wide to round off what would have been a fairytale night for Botha who joins The Sharks on January 1.
