Strong performance pleases Wray
Jackson Wray was happy to have come away from Allianz Park with a 22-6 win against London Irish, in a game the hard hitting back rower believed was a tight affair.
Alongside Man of the Match Billy Vunipola, Wray was a constant menace for the Exiles defence with the 24-year old’s ball carrying prowess during the clash particularly eye-catching.
Speaking after the game, Wray said: “London Irish always play well against us. They raise their game, and have played a style of rugby that we have struggled with in the past. It was a really tight affair down at their place earlier this season, and we expected that again today. They managed the game and conditions well, but we nullified them today. It’s a good win against a good side.
“It was difficult in that first half, especially playing into the wind. We tried to manage field position as well as possible and do things in the right areas and I think we did that pretty well. We defended very well, and we tried to provide a solid base at the set-piece, and I feel we did that all game. It was a good, strong performance today”.
On him teammate Billy Vunipola’s performance, he added: “It’s brilliant playing alongside Billy. We take a bit of pressure off each other in terms of carrying the ball, so in that respect he’s superb to play with. He gets us on the front foot, and we both got through some work today. He played really well”.
