Three try Wigglesworth delighted with Welsh win
Richard Wigglesworth came off the bench to score a quick-fire hat-trick in Saracens’ 11 try win over London Welsh.
The England scrum-half replaced the impressive Neil de Kock just after half-time and helped himself to three scores in 14 minutes, as the north Londoners thrashed the Exiles 78-7 at Allianz Park.
Speaking after the game, Wigglesworth said; “It was pretty exciting to get on in a game like that. I was very impressed with the lads to be honest, to get a score like that you have to be doing the right things at the right time, and we did that today.
“I ran a few Chris Ashton-like support lines and stole a few tries off him today, and whilst the likes of Stretts are away it’s nice to steal a few tries from those fellas, and hopefully catch them up!"
Wigglesworth took he time to praise half-back partner Owen Farrell, after the England No.10 produced a stunning display from the boot and also in the loose.
“Owen was brilliant today,” said Wigglesworth. “He identified the space on the blindside well and did all his basics superbly well today, as he always does. People talk about other number 10s, and what they can and can’t do, but Owen is pretty much the complete player".
On the win, he added; “We needed some momentum in recent weeks, and we’ve got it. We have a massively tough fixture up in Newcastle over the festive period, so if we can get a win up there we can build even more momentum, but we know how tough a task that will be. We’ll enjoy Christmas, but then it’s very much heads back on, and on to Newcastle”.
