Time for pREA Season!

After a well deserved months break, the Barnet & Southgate College Rugby XV will be back in full swing as the start of preseason beckons.

The College team, coached by Saracens Sport Foundation and London Skolars community coaches, enjoyed a successful season last year with a number of stand out performances and victories.  Last year saw a number of players further their rugby by joining local clubs as well as attending Middlesex County trials. With the core of the squad remaining in place plus an additional 8 players joining for next season the Rugby Education Academy programme has an exciting season ahead.

The REA programme, allows students to continue their further education whilst offering time, space and access to personal rugby development. Being involved in the REA programme gives players the opportunity to compete in the Natwest Schools Cup, the British Colleges Cup, the South East Colleges League and the BCS 7’s.

Through this partnership, REA allows rugby development through attention to detail both an individual and team basis. Through being involved in this programme, student athletes will have:

  • Individual weights programmes, physiotherapy, rehab & recovery, video analysis
  • 6 hours per week working with both Saracens and London Skolars coaches.
  • Full schedule of lessons, regular training and competition programmes
  • Training kit
  • Regular complimentary use of college gym facilities

This coming season will see the playing squad utilize both London Skolars 4G and Allianz Park’s 4G surface for both training and matches with the grass option ahead of away fixtures, supplying the squad first class preparation facilities.
