Togetherness key to Storm run - Shaw
Coach Joe Shaw praised his Saracens Storm’s side’s togetherness, after they reached the Aviva Premiership A-League final last night, beating Newcastle Falcons A 46-35 in a pulsating game under the lights at Allianz Park.
Shaw’s side will now travel to face Worcester Cavaliers in the A-League showpiece at Sixways on Monday night, and the Saracens Storm coach is hoping his side can continue its “fantastic journey” in the midlands next week.
Speaking after the game, Shaw said: “It’s been a fantastic journey so far. I think the group we’ve got is incredibly tight-knit, we’ve been to some really tough places this year and have beaten teams that have had a lot more experience in their starting line-ups. It’s been a bit stop-star, but the lads have come back and done it week after week when they’ve had the chance.
“We were up against a good Newcastle team tonight, and again we found a way to win. With 16 minutes to go we had one in the sin bin, then minutes later another player, but we showed a lot patience.”
He added: “I thought the boys were in control for the majority of that game, but testament to Newcastle. They’ve come a hell of a long way to play tonight and managed to make it a real dog fight for us.”
