'We're up for it' says Burger ahead of Bulls battle
Jacques Burger will be facing his former side Blue Bulls in Saturday’s Sanlam Challenge at Allianz Park.
As excitement continues to build for Saturday’s must-see clash between the England Premiership giants and with 23-time Currie Cup winners from Pretoria, Burger (who spent two seasons at Loftus Versfield before signing with Saracens in 2009) believes the Blue Bulls squad will be chomping at the bit for Saturday’s game with a Super XV season on the horizon in the Southern Hemisphere.
“I’m sure the Blue Bulls will be massively up for it,” said the Namibian loose forward. “For their players, it’s one of their last chances to impress the coaching staff before the Super XV season so they’ll be looking forward to put their best foot forward for selection.
“They have a great blend of experienced players, Springbok internationals and some very exciting young players coming through the ranks at Loftus. It will be a great challenge, and we’re up for it.”
He added: “We’ve got a good squad, and I fully believe that the boys can put in a great performance. We’re very excited. Hopefully we can play well and we’re looking to record a win.”
