Wray - Saracens prepared for Quins test
Jackson Wray starts for Saracens in tonight’s Premiership clash against London rivals Harlequins.
The powerful back rower comes into the side at blindside flanker in Mark McCall’s solitary change from the Saracens starting XV that took to the field at Twickenham Stadium against Wasps last weekend.
Wray, who came off the bench in Saracens 34-28 win last weekend, says his 23 minute cameo against Wasps in the London Double Header has whetted his appetite for tonight’s clash.
“It’s been a long pre-season and having a bit of a taste last week coming off the bench just makes more exciting,” said Wray.
“Last week was always going to be a step-up in intensity from pre-season. Most teams will tell you that first game of the season will be difficult as you’re getting used to the demands of the Premiership again. We feel in better place after last Saturday. “
On tonight’s clash he added; “We’ve had a fantastic week’s training, had some really good preparation and all of the boys are really pumped for the game. It’s a great opportunity to go to a really tough place, playing a really good team, and get a win.
“There will be little battles all over the park. It’s going to be a tightly contested game and as a forward pack we want to go there and try and assert ourselves as early as we can - we need to go there and have that mind-set.”
